The last two nights, after the little one is put to bed, I have enjoyed some knitting time. I used some suede bottom soles to make him his own little muk luk type shoes. I think they turned out so cute. I am excited about using them all winter long. I am all about ease and comfort and these will meet both needs. Very easy to throw on and pull up over his pant legs. Bring on the chill!

Lately I’ve been working on a pattern that I started probably over a year ago. I love the brown and pink civil war prints and wanted to make up one on my own. Very scrappy and perfect for a bed or a trip to the park. Below is the center of it.

This is how every INGRID BARLOW pattern starts. Nothing high-tech around here, just good ol’ paper and pencil.

Oh, how I love finishing up projects…and of course starting new ones.

My grandpa-in-law recently brought over an old church pew that he no longer wanted and I couldn’t wait to try a new paint color on it. Here it was in it’s former coat of yellow.

And now, after a couple coats of paint, a vintage inspired bluey/green.

A sweet place down in my sewing area to sit around and dream of new projects, chat with girlfriends, or pick up a pair of knitting needles.

Movie Monday–Doughnuts!

I’m sorry I have to do this to you on a Monday morning when I’m sure many of you are hard at work–doughnuts! I discovered that doughnuts are really not that hard to make. One of the worst parts is that your family will be making them disappear as soon as you set them on the rack to cool.

A few disclaimers:
*I really detest treadmills. I prefer running outside with changing scenery. Did I tell you I’m running a 1/2 marathon on September 12th??! Pass another doughnut my way!
*baking soda and salt are not spices…but you know what I meant.
*my butter warmer is not made out of metal. Rather steel or maybe cast iron or…I don’t know. Just not metal. Here is Giada’s at Target.

Movie Monday–Fresh Pasta

Happy Movie Monday! Did you know pasta is made out of just a few ingredients? And you probably already have them in your cupboard! Check out this video of fresh pasta done rustic style.

Easy Pasta Recipe

-2 cups flour

-3 eggs

-smidge of salt or you can just salt your water

-throw in some vegetable puree or some dried herbs like oregano or basil for a fun twist

Fresh pasta does not take as long to cook, so keep an eye on it. Have fun!

You don’t have to have a KitchenAid to make fresh pasta but it sure helps. If you really enjoy cooking/baking and don’t have a KitchenAid, I can’t encourage you enough to get one. I use mine almost everyday and will forever have one in easy reach in my kitchen. Here’s a link to the pasta attachment I have. (wow! A wee bit spendy…hmmm…ask for it for Christmas.)
