Movie Monday

Here’s the 3rd movie in a 4 part series.  In this one, I show you how to machine stitch your binding to the top of your quilt.  (Don’t be fooled, there is some hand work on the binding as well.  But it’s not so bad…actually one of my favorite parts.  Check in next week for that.)  I do a little stitching in this one, and then trim off all the extra batting and backing.

Binding–Step 1 from Ingrid Barlow on Vimeo.

I promise for all you non-quilters, that I will get some movies made about other things.  Trust me, my domestic side is not just about quilts.  Nor am I just domestic!

Little Elias and I did some binding in the afternoon sunlight.  He is great at holding my thread!

Here’s a future re-make project that I am really excited about.  This piece was left in our house when we bought it and I have held on to it because I think it has some fun potential.  I am going to paint it white, put some paper or fabric along the back paneling, and put some new knobs in.   ohhh, I think it will come out swell!

I had an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving vacation.  Tony and I spent a couple days with my family and then a couple with his.  This was a true vacation–no agenda, no plans, just whatever.  I spent every night at my parent’s lake house in front of a crackling fire.  Fire burning, good conversation, and binding my latest quilt…what more could I ask for?!

This new quilt pattern is called “Northern Tradition.”  It is made with brushed wovens…a very snuggly material for the season.  After I was done binding it, out lab promptly curled up in it.  She’s a quilt lover too!
