Here’s my version with some flying geese.  I still need to quilt it and bind it which will add so much.

I do have some Bliss that I would like to use to make one, but I haven’t cut into any of it yet and this is more of a scrap project, so I will just wait.  We’ll see what the main project is for my Bliss fabric first.

First up is a stack of solids.  I have learned the importance of including some solids in your quilts just to give your eye a place to rest.  Not so busy, busy.  Amish quilts are done with solids and there are some fabulous modern quilts in all solids as well.

Second we have some Verna by Kate Spain.  I think I have a new Ingrid Barlow pattern in mind for this.

This is some old Aviary by Joel Dewberry that I found and some other bits.  I made this quilt from the bark palette.  Not sure what I’ll do with it but I love the birds.

Here is some A is for Alligator by Hoffman and a couple of good polka dots.  I love the simplicity of the animals.  Could be inspiring for something someday…

This is Fig Tree’s new fabric line called Whimsy.  Gotta love her blues/greens/and butter yellows.

The old fashioned pictures just sold me on this purchase.

Mmmm, and this is Erin McMorris‘ new line called Weekends.  Love the bikes!

Some wonderful grays.  Some of this is Denyse Schmidt.  She’s got talent-wow!

Some fun ribbony stuff.  Just some yardage to put in the ribbon jar for the perfect unknown future project.

And that’s a stack of fabric!  Hopefully some new Ingrid Barlow patterns in the waiting.

One of my favorite parts of the whole quilting process is pulling out the finished quilt from the dryer.  I wait to wash my fabric when I am completely done with a quilt, because it shrinks up so beautifully giving it a very cozy/aged look.  (WARNING:  This is only a good idea if you buy quality fabric!!!!)

Here is quilt number 2 from Sunday.  I showed this quilt to you before but now it is complete.  It’s very different–my thinking with the pattern is to show how you can make a quilt very simple and show off some of the wonderful large scale prints.  This fabric is from Heather Bailey.  I added a ruffle for a touch of whimsy.  Tony is not sure how he feels about the ruffle…

I have discovered that I am a production quilter instead of a process quilter.  I quilt for the finished product, not so much for the process of doing it.  I love the beginning and the end–picking out fabric and pulling the quilt out of the dryer!

I had a fabulously long Easter weekend at home with all the family.  It was so good to get out of town and have a change of pace.  I also was able to squeeze in a couple of my favorite quilt shops.  I did a little damage in the fabric department which was way too much fun!  Here’s some of my findings.

This is an older line from Joel Dewberry called “Aviary.”  There is just something about the bird and the splashes of orange that I like.  I got it at a shop in downtown Hudson WI called “St. Croix County Dry Goods.”  Wonderful antiques and a great mix of fabrics at this shop.  You can make a day trip of it and visit all the fun shops downtown and the gorgeous St. Croix River. 

I also found this fabric that I am going to make  a skirt out of.  

The rest of the fabric I picked up at another one of my favorite shops called “Quilted Treasures” in Rogers MN. 

Again, the orange…something about it.  Someday I might regret it, but for now I love it!

I guess I better get working on some new patterns!! 

Tony snatched this picture as I loaded my new dishwasher!   Wow–I ran my first load last night and it felt fabulous!  I paid bills and washed dishes at the same time!  Such a multi-tasker!  This also shows you the apron I made tonight.  Love it!  The fabric is by Joel Dewberry–I’ve been drooling over orange lately.   The pockets are so handy for the phone and any other this and thats I stick in them.  I must say I feel a bit cutish and domestic in it.
