Energy level=Never better!
Well I had a few “must dos” on the list for this weekend…but I guess thank you notes and custom quilting will just have to happen sometime this week. oops. It is not that I have been tired or sitting on my butt, I just have been motivated to do everything else to avoid the “must dos”–naughty girl I am.
I organized the nursery a bit and spent some quality time on the wool rug that will grace it’s floor. (I am thrilled with how the rug feels under the feet–cushion love!) Below are some beautiful knits waiting for our winter baby.
I also got a lot of general housework done. Tony’s shirts are all ironed, the bed has freshly washed sheets (flannel feels so good with temps below 0 these days), some dusting, dishes washed (one sliced thumb on a knife…), even washed the light fixtures! And all with my constant companion…Dakota.
Pizza was requested tonight, so I tried a different pizza crust. Deep dish! You have to allow extra time for rising, but the effort is not that much more than regular crust because it just has to sit by itself and do it’s thing. Well worth the prep-time.

Oh, and I made some new curtains for our bedroom! (The previous curtains moved to the nursery.) Very simple and functional. I used a heavy chocolate brown fabric that I measured to fit the window, made some hems, and added some hanging tabs on the top.
Ella Mae Knits
I got a wonderful package in the mail today!! A friend of mine named Ruby has her own company called “Ella Mae Knits” and she sent me two pieces of beautiful hand created items.
Love this baby sweater made out of organic cotton! I like the different twist on the front–3 buttons all near the top. Beautiful stitch pattern. I can just see his little tummy wrapped in this!
Here’s a pair of precious baby booties. I am going to have him in them every day that they fit.
Ruby does custom orders, so if you need the perfect gift look no further. You can reach her at br_bodeker@hotmail.com. “Delightful, Handknit Creations”
Oh, and Ruby has chickens at her house in the country…I am soooo jealous!
Sweet Knits
Last week I had a bit of a cold so my fingers were busy on the needles. Here are two of my latest knits for baby Barlow.
This is called the Baby Sophisticate sweater and the free pattern can be found here. (I have also seen it referred to as the “Grampie Sweater” which I think is very fitting.) I found the buttons at the local knitting shop and I love how they have a pottery look to them.
I’ve posted this vest before, but I got the wooden buttons sewn on the sides and on one of the straps. So darling! This will fit this winter I think. Free pattern is here.
In other news…I fed my husband french toast for supper and then made Puppy Chow for dessert. How terrible is that?! I also have been having urges to put out the Christmas stuff! (My mom would have a fit if I did!) Tis getting to be the season!
Swift!
I think my nesting form of choice has been knitting. There is just something about it. I am self taught so each project I complete is like a little celebration for me. Every time I go to the knitting shop I soak up bits of new information. The last time I went I had the lady show me how this wooden contraption worked. She called it a swift and I remembered that I had seen one in Tony’s grandma’s laundry room tucked way back on a shelf. I did a little borrowing from her and wa-la–I am a swifting machine.
A few side notes:
–I have had a rather nasty cold the last few days, so I highly recommend knitting and hot tea together
–Dakota so knows better than to take anything off the table, but she wanted her spotlight on the blog…so, she’s cute this time, but next time…
