It has been busy around here! I so enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday. (I must say I have been looking forward to holiday eating ever since I got pregnant!) I had in-laws in town and then my dad came for a little hunting and some house projects. Yay dad!
Since the beginning of last week I have quilted 3 quilts, completed the binding on them, and pulled them from the dryer (one of my favorite parts of quilting). I also completed the top for a custom quilt order! I really wanted to get the custom order done in 1 week, but alas, my pregnant body says no. A few extra days won’t hurt.
This is a modern baby quilt that I just completed. I think all modern quilters love the wonky square block!
I saw a similar pumpkin runner and just had to make my own. I love how it
turned out! It’s so very simple in design and quilting, that it comes off very modern. I made the pumpkins without doing any precise measuring and then finished the block to measure 10 1/2″ x 10 1/2″. I used my walking foot to do the quilting, and just went back and forth vertically on the outside blocks and horizontally on the center block.

I so love fall and everything that goes along with it…blowing leaves, bright orange pumpkins, hot apple cider, the nip in the air, bonfires, and cozy nights…

So I decided on the next knitting project. It isn’t any of the three things I was thinking about the other night, but rather an “advanced” pr
oject for non other than me. Oh what am I thinking?! I totally should not be making something for myself at this time…but, I suppose it could become a Christmas gift for someone… yeah, probably not. I am actually doing very well at following the cable charts. One row at a time. If I do 10 rows a night it will only take me a month to make. HA!
I also stopped by the local knitting shop today. Very dangerous, but Tony did not like any of my yarn options for the baby items, so what’s a girl to do… I am now stocked to make a baby sweater, baby vest, and one other project that is unknown at this time because I couldn’t resist.
The girls are coming by Sunday for some arts and crafts time. I threw together this little quilt to give them an idea of an easy sewing project. The brown border is bamboo/linen. How very nifty!
BIG news in the world of INGRID BARLOW~quilting for the modern traditionalist! A company called The Pattern Peddlers is now distributing my quilting patterns! For those of you who do not know how this works, here’s a very simple explanation. Pattern Peddlers has sale representatives that travel the country and show quilt shop owners what’s new and hot with quilt patterns. Even though I already sell across the states, the hope is that this will get my company into areas that don’t know about me. I will continue to sell patterns to shops directly, but now new stores will have the opportunity to purchase through Pattern Peddlers if they do not have my direct contact information. Very cool! A step for my company that I am very excited about. If you haven’t been to www.ingridbarlow.com check it out!

I have been enjoying some quiet nights sitting in the rocker, listening to a book on tape,–Ok, that sounds very old lady of me but I am getting back to simpler times–working on a new table runner for Tony’s dresser. I love how simple it is–no machine required! I also learned that a band-aid works just as well as some of the fancy thimble like things out there when you need something to protect your stitching finger in a jiffy. I am working on a larger pattern that will have the same look as this.
I had an exciting email today from…well I can’t reveal that yet, but stay tuned to find out!!!
